Violent Anniversary

Saturday, August 5th, 2006

Aaron Bolo bleeding pretty badlyAugust 5th, at the Wenatchee Convention Center, pro Wrestling Beyond featured, Violent Anniversary. Almost the entire original lineup from Rumble at the River showed up and this show featured Daffney, Shark Boy, and the world famous WWE wrestler and host of MTV's Tough Enough, Ivory.

I showed up to the event around six-thirty and found it harder this time to find good seating in the front row. Shark Boy and Shark Girl were selling shirts, toys and movies at the entrance. The most noticable item was a Shark Boy toy which came with a Shark Boy mask in kids size. This became apparent as many children in the audience began donning the mask of Shark Boy.

Breakneck coming off the top ropesEarly on in the show we see a match between Breakneck and 'Dangerous' Clayton Devlyn. The match was good, with Breakneck doing quite a few high flying moves. The match didn't compare to the Lucha Style Match Breakneck and Azul Angel put on at the Rumble at the River show. I think everybody would love to see a rematch between those two. Hopefully it will happen at the upcoming show in October.
Dash taking a broom into the ringI was kind of disappointed Dash Venture had a smaller role in this event. He did a really great job of playing the heel, the crowd loved hating him. He did get the opportunity to break a broom over Jimmy Flame's head though. I hear that Dash was kind of a heel at the aftershow at Ciro's also. So feel free to jeer him all you want at the next show.
Daffney and Ivory celebratingAfter the Dash and Jimmy match, Christopher Ryseck enters the arena. He gives a stirring speech about how woman have no place in wrestling. Not to long into his speech, Daffney and Ivory make their first appearance of the night and all hell breaks lose. Ryseck attacks the girls and even pulls their hair. After the tag team Astronomy (Scorpio Knightmare and Syphon Taurus) arrives to help the girls, Ryseck makes his escape. We'll see more of him later in the evening.
Kleiver choking out LarkinNext up is a three way table match between Dr. Kliever, ProZakk, and Larkin O'Shea. The big moment arrives and both Kliever and ProZakk climb the corner ropes while defenseless Larkin O'Shea lays lifeless across a table in the center of the ring. Sadly though, before they could make the double jump on poor O'Shea the table gave way and crashed to the ground. This didn't stop the jumpers from smashing into O'Shea at full force in the center of the ring though. It didn't take long before they had the table placed in the corner of the ring and O'Shea smashing through with a loud crack and pieces of wood flying everywhere.
The Greaser about to slam LarkinEven after the table smash, it's not over for poor O'Shea. The Greaser Ronnie Angel decides to pummel O'Shea some more. With cries of, "get out of the ring Fonzie!", The Greaser continues his assault on O'Shea. I heard later that O'Shea actually broke a rib sometime during the evening. He really took quite a a lot of punishment throughout the night.
Daffney talking to a fanIntermission took place to give them time to remove what was left of the table from the ring. During intermission all the wrestlers were available for autographs, well, most all the wrestlers, Dash and a few others didn't seem to be around. Ivory and Daffney posed with guests for polaroids in the middle of the ring. She even allowed one guy to pick her up for a photo. As famous as Ivory was, she was very down to earth and wasn't conceited at all. She is scheduled to return to the next event in October, I sure hope she is able to make it.

After intermission was a match between a wrestler named Sloth (remember The Goonies) and Christopher Ryseck. The crowd cheered for sloth as he continually pounded on Ryseck.

Astro Imperial with flames high into the airAbout to shoot flames into the airAfter the Ryseck and Sloth match the crowd was greeted with quite a surpise, a masked and caped wrestler named Astro Imperial entered the arena holding a burning torch. He climbed into the ring and then began to spit flames high into the auditorium. You could actually feel the heat from the flames. Astro Imperial then extinguished his torch and began a great Lucha Style Match between him and Azul Angel.
Aaron Bolo punishing Cedric the Hitman with his fistAfter Astro and Azul's match came, in my opinion, the most intense match of the evening. The returning champion Cedric the Hitman and his contender Aaron Bolo.Bolo literally took a beating during this match. He was covered in blood and I swear at one point I thought I saw one of his teeth go flying from his mouth. The match was intense and it showed as Bolo was slowly being covered in his own blood. The crowd went wild during this match.
Bolo taking a beating at the hands of CedricBolo's name echoed throughout the arena as the fans cheered him on. Cedric was able to maintain the belt by getting himself disqualified, the fans didn't take this well. I can only hope that a rematch is in the works between these two.
Shark Boy with Ronnie Angel in handFor the final match of the evening, a three way tag team match between 'The Grease' Ronnie Angel with Death Eater vs Sharkboy with Sharkgirl vs. Astronomy. Shark Boy finally made his appearance. To cheers from the crowd, Shark Boy would bite his opponents. The match became more and more hectic and soon all the wrestlers seemed to be out in the ring and complete chaos ensued. From the referee, Mr. Sexy Tyson Devinshire, getting a double 619 (dubbed the 1900) on the ropes to Christopher Ryseck, better known as Sissy-Boy, getting a spanking from Ivory in the center of the ring, the night was very eventful.

The show was great and the wrestlers and promoters all deserve credit for putting such an incredible effort into it. I hope they continue to bring such great events to North Central Washington.
